Adaptive Sports
Studies show that adaptive sports provide numerous benefits including:

- Higher achievement in education and employment
- Reduced dependency on pain and depression medication
- Fewer secondary medical conditions (i.e., diabetes, hypertension)

Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico
The organization offers year-round adaptive sports opportunities at various locations throughout New Mexico. Activities include adaptive ski and snowboard lessons at Ski Santa Fe and Sandia Peak, rock climbing, yoga, river rafting, and watersports including waterskiing, wakesurfing, paddleboarding, fishing, sailing, yoga and more.

Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation – (Albuquerque)
Adaptive sports and recreational programs are available for Carrie Tingley Hospital patients ages birth to 21. No child or family is turned away because they cannot pay. Programs are free of charge or scholarships are available for those who qualify. Activities including: Summer Sports Camp (June), Dance Program (Year Round), Dance Camp (July), Horseback Riding (Year Round), Sled Hockey (Fall & Spring), Yoga (Year Round), Swimming (Summer), Cycling (Fall and Spring) and Wheelchair Basketball (Year Round).

NM Wounded Warrior Water Sports – (Statewide, Veterans)
Lessons and regional events provide recreational activities for veterans and their families. Activities include, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, wind surfing, fishing and camping on the shores of the reservoir with evening campfires.

Not Forgotten Outreach – (Taos, Veterans)
Lessons and events for veterans and their families in hand cycling, sled hockey, adaptive skiing and swimming. Disabled veterans that qualify can receive free adaptive equipment from the NM Veterans Affairs Recreational Department.

Sponsors sports competitions and trainings for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, ages 8 and up in the following: indoor track meet, poly hockey, team bowling, and summer games with bocce, volleyball, soccer, and athletics.
Four Corners Invitational with aquatics, golf, softball, flag football, equestrian, holiday classic with basketball and bowling, over the edge (16 Story rappelling adventure, posole ole fun walk, posole ole 5k run, torch run event with law enforcement, north bowling tournament.
All these activities will have their next statewide events in 2015.
